You know Inso’s post really means? That one that keeps getting reblogged?
It means you young people need to go vote again in a couple of months.
At the current moment, the United States has the closest thing to a “progressive” president and Congress as it has had in the past sixty years. And that fact is mostly due to the unprecedented numbers of new voters that showed up at the polls in 2008.
But that one vote wasn’t enough. The people who sold your birthright are the same people who pissed about things like healthcare reform, religious freedom and gay rights. They are waiting for the chance to undo what you accomplished in 2008.
Get involved, people. If you want to leave a better world for your babies, make sure you show up and get counted. The Tea-Baggers and the racists and the war pigs all think they have this thing in the bag. They scream, they hold rallies and they get all the attention.
But truth is, it all hinges on you. Not them.
