When Donald Trump Didn’t Need Proof →
Donald Trump once took out full page ads in four newspapers advocating for the execution of five African-American children who stood accused of a non-capital offense. Five children who were later cleared by DNA evidence.
The only time “evidence” matters to people like Trump is when dark-skinned people excel in arenas normally reserved for white males.
I took that personality disorder test. Y'all ain't...

tbridge replied to your post: I’m guessing all those “I Hate Taxes, Barack Hussein Obama and the Federal Government” southern rednecks will turn down all that federal money and FEMA help in cleaning up after those tornadoes last night, right?
*facepalm* Was that necessary?
Yeah. Yeah, it is.
When the people who fight tooth and nail against things like single-payer health care...

I’m sure that god of theirs will make sure everything is taken care of. I mean, first you accept help from a Muslim like Obama, and the next thing you know you’re living under Sharia law and walking around with a towel wrapped around your noggin. Happens every time.

It’s 5AM. There is a raccoon on my back patio standing in the rain and staring in at me as I drink coffee and eat a slice of coconut pie.

Fucking commas. HOW DO THEY WORK?
Thank you, Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages
Saturday morning I was bitten on the arm by a mosquito. Nothing serious, mind you, but it itched like the devil once it started to heal. Like mosquito bites do.
Saturday night, the bite was looking better, but I was exhausted. So I went to bed. Like tired people do.
Early Sunday morning, I noticed that I had accidentally removed the top layer of skin from the mosquito bite wound. Like itchy...

My type?
My type would be tall and a bit quiet. Smart. (God would she ever be smart. Off the charts.) She’d be a great mom. She’d have curly red hair and big blue eyes that you couldn’t look away from. She’d call to chat for a few minutes, even after she had just finished a five hour drive and needed to wake up early the next morning. She wouldn’t mind having a guy go all...

HOLY SHIT GUYS - I WAS JUST OFFERED A JOB AS A...
Good lord.
I have absolutely no resolve when it comes to sweets. The girl at Papa John’s recognized the name and address on my order and threw in a free Apple Cinnamon dessert pizza.
It’s half gone now.
You guys probably ought to start a pool on when I’ll need to order my first power scooter. I’m doomed.

I’m finally getting off my ass and collecting some of the odds and ends I’ve written across the internet and posting them all in one central location.
And if using race isn't an acceptable analogy...
…then I’ll add Mother Jones, and Susan B. Anthony and Mohandas Gandhi to the mix. It’s a civil discourse matter, not a religious one. It’s about standing up and being heard when most people don’t agree with what you are saying, or when your voice is a threat to the status quo.
Admitting that you aren’t a believer comes with a cost in western society. You...

I’m glad that people like MLK and Harriet Beecher Stowe didn’t sit quietly when the larger population didn’t want to hear what they had to say.

I have respect for people’s religious beliefs, even if I don’t share them. Even if I think they’re silly or wrong. It bothers me that folks are choosing Holy Week/Passover to attack religion. I understand that some of you feel like religion has wronged you and/or that it’s dangerous. Do you…

This piece by Merlin was an extraordinary read. And I’m a little surprised to be saying it, but I’m pretty sure I want to read that book now.
I really hope you all read this. The piece by Merlin, I mean. Like Shane says, it’s amazing. A powerful kind of amazing.
Thank you for it, Merlin. Truly. I wish I could tell you why and how, but now’s not the place. And it’s no...
